Part of the Brecon Beacons National Park lies in Carmarthenshire and the ‘The Black Mountain’ in the east of the county is a favourite walking route for hikers who love their piece of nature wild, rugged and totally unspoilt. ‘The Black Mountain’ in the National Park is part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark - one of the UNESCO global geopark sites,
a status given to a territory that has geological heritage of European significance.
On lower ground choose from river routes and explore The Teifi Trail or Tywi Trail
or head for the coast
A special way to see the area is by taking part in a walking festival – the Llanelli Walking Festival held in May each year offers a choice of 6 walks a day over 3 days.
