Just a few examples to give you a taste of the events in South West Wales …
 
You may choose to take a break when one of our food festivals is on - Pembrokeshire Fish Week celebrates the area’s rich sea food offering from 25 June – 3 July 2011 with sea food events, fishing, kayaking, coastal foraging, guided walks and river trips as well as many cookery demonstrations.
 
The prestigious Iron Man competition, one of the most recognised endurance events in the world, will be held in Pembrokeshire on the 11th September.

Poet Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea and the annual Dylan Thomas Festival is internationally renowned – 2 weeks of performance, readings, film and international celebrity speakers. Held between the anniversary of his birth and death, 27 October to 9 November
 
Also, celebrating Dylan Thomas, The Laugharne Weekend Literary Festival, 15 – 17 April, is a cool weekend of music, talks the best in Welsh culture and literature, all set in this coastal town, location of his beloved former home ,The Boathouse’

And the annual Llandeilo Festival, in Carmarthenshire gets ‘the big names’ and the performances are varied in venue and type – from international soprano Katherine Jenkins singing in an historic garden setting to smaller recitals in beautiful local churches.
