Walk this way...

Walking holidays in South West Wales offer some of the best routes in Europe – perfect for a UK walking break.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a National Trail – over 400km of perfect coastal and inland scenery with excellent walkers’ bus links. Stay for two weeks and walk the whole length enjoying the many bed and breakfasts, campsites and pubs along the way or choose shorter circular walks.

There are dozens of celebrated walking routes in Carmarthenshire For example; you can walk on the high, rolling hills of ‘The Black Mountain’ within the Brecon Beacons National Park in the east of the county. It’s been designated as part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark the only site in Wales to be listed among the most exceptional geological sites in Europe.

In Swansea Bay there are nearly 1000km of walking ‘rights of way’, routes that are clear to follow and well recognised. The Gower Peninsula offers circular and linear walks and excellent short break ideas within an easy to access area. To the east of Swansea Bay the Neath Port Talbot area also takes in part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Together with the forested hills and valleys that cover three quarters of the area the location is probably most famous for ‘Waterfall Walks’  - a series of dramatic waterfalls that provide the backdrop for memorable walking breaks. The Waterfalls Centre in the Vale of Neath is the home of the Fforest Fawr Geopark and the start of the Waterfall Country Walks.

A walking holiday in South West Wales will offer the opportunity to concentrate on one of three very special areas, Pembrokeshire Carmarthenshire or Swansea Bay or link routes and walking experiences across the region with places to stay and public transport connections for a longer holiday.
